Teaching and learning

There are varied approaches to teaching and assessment and a wide range of different styles, including lectures, seminars, small group tutorials and virtual seminars via the web. In particular, we encourage students to undertake supervised, independent study and original research at every level of the programme.

Coursework and assessment

Assessment procedures in different courses vary, but our basic objective is to achieve a good balance between formal examinations, continuous assessment and project work. There are long written assignments in each of the first two years. The third year dissertation provides a quarter of the final mark.
