Stephen Mossman, €14000 (2011) from the Fritz-Thyssen-Stiftung for conference: 'Der Literaturbetrieb im spätmittelalterlichen Straßburg/ Literary Culture in Late Medieval Strasbourg', Manchester, 13-16 April 2011; with £1700 from the British Academy for the same purpose, to bring keynote speakers from the US and from Russia.

Julie-Marie Strange, £50,000 (2011) from the AHRC, for project: 'The Fond and the Feckless: Working-Class Paternity, 1870-1914'.

Pedro Ramos-Pinto, with colleagues at the University of Lisbon, 100,000 Euros (2010-2013), from the Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia, Ministry of Education and Science, Portugal, for:  'Broken Promises: The Political Origins of Socioeconomic Inequality in Portugal, 1960-2010'.

Glyn Redworth, with colleagues at the Universidad de Valladolid, 29,000 Euros (2010-12) from the government of Spain, for: 'Books, Journeys, Faith & Diplomacy: interpretation and representation in the cultural interchange between Spain and England in the early modern period'.

Julie-Marie Strange,£250,000 (2010-12) from the AHRC, for project: 'The Fancy Dog and Dog Fancy, 1859-1914'.

Bertrand Taithe and Tony Redmond, £650,000 (2009-12), Humanitarian Research Institute funding from the Tuixen foundation, £200,000 (2008), £100,000 (2011); Eric Li Studentship £45,000 (2011); DFID: £24,000 (2010).  All external funds matched by NHS and SIRF funding.

Peter Kirby, £24,493 (2009-11) from the  British Cotton Growers Association, for completion of MUP book Child Labour and Industrial Health in Britain, 1780-1850.

Bertrand Taithe and Peter Gatrell, £18,125 (2009-11) from the ESRC Research Seminars programme, for conference on: 'Humanitarian Relief and Conflict Response in Interdisciplinary and Applied Perspectives'.

Maiken Umbach, £69,000 (2008-11) from the Leverhulme Trust Academic Collaboration: International Networks Scheme, for a team of nine collaborators working on, 'Relating Identities: Locality, Region, Nation and Empire in modern European History'.
