ABOUT THE CENTRE

What's war got to do with it?

The Centre for the Cultural History of War is a research and teaching centre dedicated to understanding the cultural attributes and representation of war in the modern world. Our distinctive focus is to consider 3 interlocking themes:

  • population displacement
  • humanitarianism
  • collective memory

The Centre is located in a major research-led university, a short distance from the new Imperial War Museum North. At the core of the Centre is a team of established and newly appointed academic staff who will co-ordinate and disseminate research both nationally and internationally. We support a new generation of research students and postdoctoral fellows in this field. We offer an exciting new program in conjunction with IWMN and the Media Centre. This Centre is affiliated to the Centre for Interdisciplinary Research in the Arts
