Interests
Early medieval history, the history of the Franks, law and custom in medieval societies, hagiography, charters, serf-lord relations in the eleventh century, the cost of the liturgy. He is also co-ordinating editor of the journal Early Medieval Europe and editor of The New Cambridge Medieval history volume I.
