Cultivating Research

Programme for Semester 2 (2011/2012)

All sessions take place at 5pm in SL01 in the Martin Harris Centre unless otherwise indicated.

 

23rd February

Rajinder Dudrah and David Butler James Thompson (TBC) 'What exactly do you do on a sabbatical?' Staff returning from sabbaticals will present their research, looking at the challenges and outcomes of the work that they have pursued during this concentrated period of research. Followed by Q & A.

 

1st March

MA Theatre Studies students will present the topics of research that they intend to write up as their final thesis.

 

15th March

Joint event with In Place of War. The IPOW research project completes its second major cycle in which an active international network has been set up over the course
of three years. To mark the end of this stage of the In Place of War project, we are presenting a very special event combining a film screening, book launch and seminar session. John Thaw Studio, 6.30-9pm.

 

22nd March

Sophie Nield, Royal Holloway, University of London. Title TBC.

 

12th April

Joint event with Professional Doctorate in Applied Theatre. Staff and postgraduate students have been invited to join colleagues on their 'residential' during which they will be hosting a guest speaker. Speaker, and title TBC. The Mansfield Copper Building, room and time TBC.

 

19th April

Nadine Holdsworth, University of Warwick. 'It's Grim Up North': class, race and riots in contemporary representations of ‘the north’ in British theatre.

 

3rd May

MA Theatre Studies students will present the topics of research that they intend to write up as their final thesis.

 

10th May

Jenny Hughes, University of Manchester Title TBC
