About Katharine Low
Katharine Low
I am a PhD student in Applied Theatre which is part of the School of Arts, Histories and Cultures at the University of Manchester in the United Kingdom. I am researching the role of applied theatre in sexual and reproductive health education (SRH). I have recently completed my Masters in Applied Theatre at the University of Manchester, and prior to this, I received an MA (Hons.) from the University of Glasgow in Psychology and Theatre Studies.
As a South African, who has lived in both Switzerland and the United Kingdom, I feel that it is important to share and pool our knowledge of theatre practice and sexual and reproductive health education in order to combat gender and poverty inequalities as well as prevent SRH related illnesses.
My research interests are multi-disciplinary and include the following: the different applications of applied theatre, the ethics of practice and research, traditional theatre practices, the role of the funders in influencing theatre practice, and public health.
