Kaye sells out
The Centre's Lecturer in Contemporary Literature, Dr Kaye Mitchell, co-presented a sell-out public event on Lesbian Pulp Fiction on 15 May.
The event, at Cup cafe in the city's Northern Quarter, was part of the Queer Up North festival, and considered potboiler paperbacks of the 1950-70s.
Kaye and University colleague and novelist Patricia Duncker read passages from novels including Rebel Woman, Strange Sisters and Return to Lesbos, before discussing their historical importance and taking questions from the audience.
Kaye was also interviewed on the subject by BBC Radio Manchester magazine programme LGBT Citizen Manchester later in the week, and has contributed to a two part Radio 4 documentary on lesbian fiction which will air in mid-August.
