Fees and payment

The next summer school will take place in June - July 2010, and will be charged at a flat fee of £2560. This covers tuition for both courses, accommodation, meals as stated, travel within the summer school, field trips (including entrance to museums) and most social activities.

The Centre offers one scholarship of £500 which will be awarded to a summer school student based on the quality of their short writing sample submitted during the application process. All applicants will be automatically entered into the scholarship competition if they are accepted onto the summer school.

If you are offered a place at the summer school and wish to accept, you will need to make a non-refundable deposit payment of £350 in May 2010.  The remainder of the course fee (£2210) is payable by credit card, traveller's cheque or banker's draft in June 2010.

Please note that:

  • you can cancel your attendance at the summer school at any time before 12.00 BST on Tuesday 8 June 2010 and receive a refund of any fees paid, minus your £350 deposit which we will be unable to refund
  • if you cancel after this point but before 12.00 BST on Friday 25 June (the last working day before the summer school starts) you will be liable for £2,060 (i.e we can only refund £500 to you)
  • after 12.00 BST on Friday 25 June you will be liable for the full course fee of £2,560.

Insurance

Fully comprehensive travel insurance is strongly recommended, and it is students' own responsibility to arrange this.

Although the University's public liability insurance policy indemnifies it in respect of legal liability for bodily injury or disease and the loss of or damage to property arising out of its acts or omissions (in any location), you will need to arrange insurance for your possessions, medical costs etc at all other times; eg/ when travelling to Manchester, resident at Woolton Hall, on the University campus and elsewhere in Manchester or the UK, including all UK trips and social activities.
