Eligibility and applications
The summer school is open to undergraduates entering their Junior or Senior year, who have a GPA of 3.0 or above, English language competency of IETLS 7.5 or above and an interest in literature and/or creative writing.
Applications must be accompanied by:
- a 400-word personal statement
- a short writing sample (a poem of any length or story or essay of no more than 2000 words)
- a letter of recommendation from a current teacher or instructor who is familiar with your creative written work
- an academic transcript confirming your GPA score
When reviewing applicants our selection criteria will be:
- Academic achievement
- Convincing interest in and flair for literature and/or creative writing
- Commitment to exploring new ideas
The closing date for applications is 14th APRIL 2010 (including supporting documentation), but applications will be considered as they are received and places allocated on a rolling basis so you are encouraged to apply as early as possible.
The Centre offers one scholarship of £500 which will be awarded to a summer school student based on the quality of their short writing sample submitted during the application process. All applicants will be automatically entered into the scholarship competition if they are accepted onto the summer school.
Please note that the closing date for the 2010 summer school has now passed, so further applications will not be considered.
