Professional Doctorates

The Institute for Cultural Practices also offers Professional Doctorates in Applied Theatre and Museum Practice. The Professional Doctorate at the University of Manchester is specifically designed to meet the interests of practitioners who want to conduct high level research which is grounded in their professional knowledge and experience. Instead of a single 80,000-word thesis, students submit a portfolio of work, including a literature review, research proposal, publishable articles and dissertation. The Professional Doctorate is particularly designed for part-time students (although it will be possible to enroll full-time), and candidates will be supported by a regular programme of supervisions, seminars and workshops.
