This seminar will explore how contemporary theatre and performance practices by, with or for young people are engaging with complex and uncertain issues around risk, security, science and terrorism.
Presentations will focus on theatre and performance which has responded to political concerns within the UK around young people's engagement with science and with the UK's counter terrorism strategy.
The seminar will combine perspectives from academic research, practice and policy and is aimed at arts practitioners (especially theatre and other youth arts professionals) and policy makers as well as students and academics.

Speakers: Rehana Mughal (Cultural Programmes Manager, Creativity, Culture and Education), Nigel Townsend (Artistic Director, Y Touring Theatre Company), Jenny Hughes and Simon Parry (University of Manchester).
Creativity, Culture and Education (CCE) is a national organisation created to generate transformational cultural and creative programmes for children and young people across England to enhance their aspirations, achievements, skills and life chances.
Y Touring is Central YMCA's award winning Touring Theatre Company, established in 1989. Through creating high quality theatre and drama, the company aims to highlight important, often difficult, current issues. Y Touring has pioneered young people's theatre in the arena of health, sex education and science ethics.
