Arts Management

Cultural Networks

The Centre has strong links with the arts and cultural sector organisations in Manchester and across the North West region, and engages with national and international networks of those working in the areas of arts and cultural management, professional development and policy. Students at the Centre gain access to practical experience and contact with the sector, for example through work placement opportunities and site visits.

The Centre is concerned with assessing and informing current thinking and research on cultural management and policy studies, and providing a platform for interdisciplinary debate and knowledge exchange. It is working with a range of partners in the region and nationally in consultancy or advisory roles. It is also working with the ESRC Centre for Research on Socio-cultural Change to develop research on cultural participation, mapping and policy implementation.

Placements

Placements and internships are coordinated with other postgraduate programmes in the Institute for Cultural Practices, offering the opportunity for students from different disciplines to work with sector partners on placement projects. Organisations who would like to host placement students can find out more by contacting Centre staff and/or the ICP Placement Coordinator: ICPPlacements@manchester.ac.uk
